27.8.2019 — The "widowed" Siberian tiger Rádža is getting a new partner. The tigress Arila came to Prague from Germany and can be seen in the enclosure at the top of the zoo.

Prague Zoo is the only zoo that breeds rare Texas tortoise in Europe

18.8.2020 — The vulnerable Texas tortoise is a species of tortoise in the Testudinidae family, and one of six species of tortoises in the Gopherus genus, commonly referred to as gopher tortoises. They are native to North America, in southern US and northern Mexico. Prague Zoo, which is the only zoo in Europe that successfully breeds this species, celebrated the birth of a new hatchling in the second half of July. Texas tortoises inhabit deep burrows, which they dig with their strong claws and flattened front legs. However, they prefer to use pre-dug mammal burrows. Prague Zoo has kept a group of these interesting tortoises in the Sonora exhibit in the Pavilion of Beasts and Reptiles since 2007. The first hatchlings were born in 2010.

Independent American artist Arthur Jafa in Galerie Rudolfinum

10.2.2019 — The exhibition of the famous American filmmaker, cinematographer and artist Arthur Jafa can now be seen at the Galerie Rudolfinum. It is his first exhibition in the Czech Republic. Arthur Jafa creates images of African-American identity and culture through a broad spectrum of contemporary footage and found images. The exhibition's title, 'A Series of Utterly Improbable, Yet Extraordinary Renditions', refers to the feeling of emptiness that characterizes black life, according to Jafa.

21.9.2020 — The 'No night so dark' exhibition, which takes place in the Villa Winternitz until the 29th of November, will introduce you to the story of the First Republic architect Rudolf Wels' family. The story of the Wels family is a story that should not be forgotten. There is no better setting for the exhibition, as Rudolf Wels was a disciple of the famous architect Adolf Loose, who designed Villa Winternitz.

Prague Audiovisual Fund

13.2.2017 — Prague is the traditional centre of the Czech film industry and a favourite destination for foreign film crews. By founding the Prague Audiovisual Fund, the city wants to actively support the presentation of the City of Prague abroad through film and television productions.

Third generation of common European vipers in Prague Zoo

31.8.2020 — Vipera berus, the common European adder or common European viper, is the only venomous snake that can be found in the Czech Republic. The third generation was bred in Prague Zoo in August and visitors can admire the baby snakes in the part of the zoo called 'Zakázanka'.

Cirk La Putyka’s Homecoming

As part of the celebrations, they decided to return with three of their successful productions to their original venues: La Fabrika, Archa Theatre and the New Stage of the National Theatre's New Stage in October and November.
