Art in Cinema presents the Hermitage
9.1.2020 — Explore the St. Petersburg Museum of Art and its three million artworks with the documentary 'Hermitage: The Power of Art'. The film will be screened on the 11th, the 12th, the 14th, and the 17th of January in the Světozor Cinema, as part of the 'Umění v kině' ('Art in Cinema') series.
Open-air German language film festival
17.7.2020 — The sixth annual film festival Das Sommerkino screens films from Germany, Austria and Switzerland during the summer holiday season. The screenings take place every Tuesday and Thursday in July, and every Monday and Wednesday in August. Das Sommerkino offers the best recent German language films with free admission. The films on the festival's programme were mostly successful at previous years of Das Filmfest, and won a number of prestigious international awards. The films which deal with current topics, insights into the recent past, as well as historical films will please cinema goers in Prague. Those who appreciate fine arts and architecture will also enjoy this year's programme. A total of 18 films will be screened, which will be a kind of preparation for the traditional autumn film festival Das Filmfest.

This information is based on a survey requested by Prague City Hall, 'Safety Sensitivity Analysis' (Analýza pocitu bezpečí). 23.3.2019 — Prague City Gallery is preparing a very unusual concert. On the 26th of March in 'Dům U Kamenného zvonu' (The Stone Bell House) in 'Staroměstské náměstí' (Old Town Square), the British artist Lee Patterson will bring you the world of his art. This musician, sound artist and designer of experimental musical instruments could possibly be described as a sound sculptor. Patterson lives and works in Prestwich near Manchester, UK.

15.6.2019 — On Saturday, the 15th of June 2019, the next round of the prestigious FIM Speedway Grand Prix, the World Championship of Individuals, will take place at Markéta Speedway Stadium. The 23rd annual Speedway World Championship in the Czech Republic will be the third round in the Speedway Grand Prix. The first race took place in May in Warsaw, and the next round will be in Krško, Slovenia.

New Russian art exhibition in DOX
23.10.2019 — A new exhibition, 'Russia. Timeless', is running in DOX Centre for Contemporary Art in Holešovice in Prague until the 2nd of December. The exhibition introduces strong artistic opinions from contemporary Russia. "The exhibition shows the theme of timelessness over the past sixty years by artists of different generations and aesthetic beliefs. We want them to stand side by side and together, without categorising them as more or less important than each other. Each visitor can decide that for themselves and according to their own opinion," Tomáš Glanc, one of the exhibition's curators, said.

Manet’s graphics in the National Gallery Prague
28.6.2020 — 'Manet in Black-and-White' is an exhibition of graphic works by the French painter Édouard Manet held in the National Gallery Prague. The exhibition will be open in the Graphic Cabinet on the 4th floor of the Trade Fair Palace until the 9th of August. The National Gallery Prague has been located in the Trade Fair Palace in Prague's Holešovice district since 1976. Apart from the temporary exhibition of Manet's lesser-known works, you can also visit the permanent exhibition of 20thand 21st century art located there.

29.5.2019 — The 21st international festival, "Prague Heart of Nations 2019", is the largest joint event for minorities in the Czech Republic, bringing a wealth of traditions from nations around the world. From the 30th of May to the 3rd of June, the festival will symbolically take place in the heart of Europe - the historical centre of Prague. Since 1999, musicians, singers and dancers have come to the Czech capital to perform traditional folk art from their native countries. This year, Prague will welcome a wide range of artists once again.

The parade will proceed from Malostranské náměstí via Karlův most (Charles Bridge) to the Staroměstské náměstí (Old Town Square), where the Jakub Jan Ryba's 'Czech Christmas Mass' (Česká mše vánoční) will be played and sung, concluding the procession and the Christmas season.
