Exhibition of two centuries of portraiture in the Czech Republic
31.1.2020 — The exhibition at Prague Castle's Imperial Stables ('Císařská konírna') displays portraits by Czech artists starting with Josef Mánes, who was born 200 years ago this year. The exhibition, which was organised in cooperation with the Office of The President of the Republic, Prague Castle Administration and the Manes Association of Fine Artists, will run until the 22nd of March 2020.
Portal to support Prague tourism launched
26.6.2020 — An internet portal www.vprazejakodoma.cz, which supports tourism in Prague, has been launched. The portal should reduce the negative economic consequences of coronavirus in the capital's tourism sector. The program will run from the 1st to the 30th of September 2020.

Tour Prague on a culture tram
15.6.2020 — A special 'culture tram' has begun touring Prague city. From the outside, the tram serves as a moving decoration for the streets of Prague, where it will ride through all year round; inside, it promotes various cultural events taking place in Prague. From time to time, events will also take place on the tram, which will be used as a mobile stage for concerts and theatre performances, or simply as a reading place. "Cultural life is finally slowly awakening after coronavirus. I am pleased that we can arrange cultural activities in this innovative way for the people of Prague too", Hana Třeštíková, Prague City Councillor for Culture and Tourism, said.

Open-air German language film festival
17.7.2020 — The sixth annual film festival Das Sommerkino screens films from Germany, Austria and Switzerland during the summer holiday season. The screenings take place every Tuesday and Thursday in July, and every Monday and Wednesday in August. Das Sommerkino offers the best recent German language films with free admission. The films on the festival's programme were mostly successful at previous years of Das Filmfest, and won a number of prestigious international awards. The films which deal with current topics, insights into the recent past, as well as historical films will please cinema goers in Prague. Those who appreciate fine arts and architecture will also enjoy this year's programme. A total of 18 films will be screened, which will be a kind of preparation for the traditional autumn film festival Das Filmfest.
The 20th Summer Festivities of Early Music – a highlight of the music season in Prague
15.7.2019 — The 20th Anniversary of the Summer Festivities of Early Music has started! The first of seven exclusive evenings of music took place on the 11th of July and the international music festival will run until the 6th of August. The well-known festival has been connecting old music with architecture for 20 years, as the concerts take place at specially selected historical venues in the Czech capital city, such as the Convent of Saint Agnes, Břevnov Monastery, Troja Château, and Rudolfinum.

15.6.2019 — On Saturday, the 15th of June 2019, the next round of the prestigious FIM Speedway Grand Prix, the World Championship of Individuals, will take place at Markéta Speedway Stadium. The 23rd annual Speedway World Championship in the Czech Republic will be the third round in the Speedway Grand Prix. The first race took place in May in Warsaw, and the next round will be in Krško, Slovenia.
Prague Invites Spectators Back into Theatres Through Virtual Reality
31.3.2021 — Prague City Hall, together with the Brainz Studios creative group, has today presented the globally unique service called Brejlando. It will offer experimental theatre experiences to its spectators in virtual reality (VR). With the help of state-of-the-art technologies and borrowed VR glasses, everyone can immerse in watching selected performances from Prague theatres from the comfort of their homes, as well as from a completely new angle - right from the stage, in close vicinity to the actors. The service is intended to help theatres and their fans overcome these difficult times of limited operation. However, at the same time, the initiators believe that they are establishing a new international trend that can become a permanent part of the theatres' offer.

28.10.2020 — Prague Planetarium and the Štefánik Observatory commence another two-year course in astronomy. Those who complete the course successfully will have an opportunity to work in the Astronomy Club of the Štefánik Observatory. The two-year astronomical course has been held for over 50 years and offers the participants basic knowledge of modern astronomy along with knowledge of the night sky and the basics of working with astronomical instruments.
‘Culture at Home’ offers content in one place

29.3.2019 — Richard Wagner's opera 'Die Walküre' (The Valkyrie) is coming to Czech cinemas as part of 'The Met: Live in HD' series. In Prague, the opera will be screened on the 30th of March in the Aero and Světozor cinemas.

Support Czech culture by buying ‘Nothing’ tickets
7.4.2020 — A nationwide project to support theatres, concert halls, clubs and artists has been launched. 'NIC' tickets have been on sale since the 1st of April. 'Nic' means 'nothing' in Czech and that is the aim of this project - as cultural events cannot take place, cultural institutions and artists need your support. According to Hana Třeštíková, Prague City Councillor for Culture, Czech people are inventive, so instead of simply asking for donations, they came up with a plan to sell tickets for 'non-existing' cultural events, which will (not) take place on the 1st of May.

23.8.2007 — Humanitární organizace Hand for Help, o.p.s Liberec se rozhodla poskytnout pomoc oblastem postiženým přírodní katastrofou, která svým dopadem předčí mimo jiné i katastrofální tsunami na Srí Lance, kde se humanitární pomoci účastnila i skupina vyslaná touto organizací. Ničivá povodeň do Asie přišla na den přesně 5 let poté, kdy i Čechy potkala tato hrůzná zkušenost. Pět let před tím obdobnou zkušenost učinily i města a obce a jejich obyvatelé na Moravě. O katastrofě v Indii a Bangladéši se v naší republice doposud moc nemluvilo, snad právě proto si zaslouží pozornost a nutnost pomoci potřebným.
