18.8.2020 — "In April, together with GoOut, we sold tickets to non-existent shows in order to help to keep our culture alive. And because the time when almost NOTHING cultural happened is, hopefully, behind us, now Prague can experience SOMETHING in the last weekend of September. As an expression of gratitude to supporters and fans, cultural organisations all over Prague are preparing special events and programmes. It will be a celebration of the return and revival of culture and I look forward to seeing theatres and clubs full of fans soon," Hana Třeštíková, Prague Councillor for Culture and Tourism, said.

31.7.2019 — Famous organ concerts in the baroque church of St. Francis of Assisi, in the heart of the Old Town of Prague, have their tradition since 1993. Besides compositions by world-famous composers from the Baroque and Classicism periods, music by Czech composers is also regularly played there.

23.5.2020 — Prague Symphony Orchestra, also known as 'FOK', for 'Film-Opera-Koncert', is preparing the event 'Roušky se odkládají, salónky ožívají' ('Masks are put aside, halls are coming to life') in cooperation with the Municipal House. The event will make the reopening of the Municipal House a unique experience on the 25th of May from 6pm to 8pm. Halls that are usually accessible to the general public only on special occasions and with paid guided tours will come to life with free, short multi-genre concerts by Prague Symphony Orchestra's members.

30.11.2019 — Actions to help homeless people survive the freezing weather are starting to take place in Prague this winter. Unlike in previous years, the city is allowing people with dogs to stay warm at night, whereas they were previously refused in dormitories. There are also more facilities available for those with health issues. The municipal police are taking part in the winter measures along with the social services.

23.7.2020 — The large courtyard of the former barracks in Karlín in Prague is being used as an unusual open-air cinema for the second year. Summer cinema Kasárna Karlín (Karlín Barracks) screens classic movies both from the Czech Republic and abroad, as well as experimental films, from June to September.

23.10.2020 — Prague Botanical Garden was of the few places not affected by the government's Covid-19 restrictions, but unfortunately it had to close today. Hopefully, it will reopen soon so that visitors will be able to enjoy the beautiful autumn colours! The garden is truly magical in the autumn. Those who think that all flowers have already bloomed are mistaken. For example, the Ornamental Garden is still full of colour these days.

31.10.2020 — Do not despair if you missed the exhibition 'The Beauty of Wild Horses' in Prague Zoo before its closure. The garden has prepared an online version of the exhibition, which is now available on their website. Prague Zoo has played an important role in saving Przewalski's horse from extinction since 1921, and more recently, in returning these wild horses to their natural habitat, the steppes of central Asia. The zoo also keeps a breed registry for Przewalski's horse species.

6.5.2010 — Pochodeň s ohněm přímo z řeckého Marathonu doslova přiběhl předat Roman Šebrle s deseti nadějnými mladými atlety do rukou primátora hl. m. Prahy Pavla Béma a Dany Zátopkové, olympijské oštěpařky a manželky čtyřnásobného olympijského vítěze ve vytrvalostním běhu Emila Zátopka, na Staroměstské náměstí. Maratónský oheň bude provázet celý letošní ročník závodu Volkswagen Marathon Praha pořádaný v rámci Prague International Marathon.

15.8.2020 — There are not many people who would resist the beauty of lavender. Prague Botanical Garden grows a great number of this medicinal plant species in its outdoor exhibition, including whole lavender field which makes you feel like you are in the beautiful region of Provence. Lavender grows primarily is the western Mediterranean, and the lavender fields in the southeast of France are a great tourist attraction.

5.7.2020 — Food Truck Park is a street food event which takes place every Sunday until the end of October at the Prague Exhibition Grounds. A variety of gastronomic specialties from all over the world will be on offer. You will find it near the children's playground on the newly renovated 'Bruselská Cesta' ('Brussels Road').

11.12.2017 — On December 4, 2017, Prague celebrated the 25th anniversary of the inscription of the Historical Center of Prague on the UNESCO's List of World Cultural and Natural Heritage. The international conference Prague – World Heritage City 2017 was organized to commemorate this occasion.

31.1.2020 — The leaders of the Integrated Rescue System and other bodies met in Prague City Hall in order to discuss and exchange information on preparations for potential occurrences of coronavirus in Prague.

25.4.2020 — The National Museum in Prague is working on a restoration of its largest collection item, the blue whale skeleton. Visitors will soon be able to see it online.

16.9.2020 — An interesting exhibition focusing on Prague's covered passages started on Monday, the 14th of September. This exhibition of photographs allows you to learn more about the city of Prague in detail.

5.1.2022 — Zákonem č. 201/2012 Sb., o ochraně ovzduší, účinným od 1.9.2012, byla zavedena povinnost pro orgány ochrany ovzduší aktivně zpřístupňovat veřejnosti informace o podaných žádostech o závazná stanoviska a povolení provozu a o závazných stanoviscích a povoleních provozu vydaných na základě těchto žádostí. Průběžně aktualizovaný seznam žádostí evidovaných Odborem ochrany prostředí Magistrátu hlavního města Prahy.

13.2.2004 — PRAHA – Dnes v poledne byl slavnostně zahájen 13. ročník evropského veletrhu Holiday World. Pražský náměstek JUDr. Petr Hulinský, do jehož kompetence oblast výstavnictví a veletržních aktivit na území hlavního města spadá přivítal účastníky veletrhu v Lapidáriu Výstaviště.

28.2.2011 — V roce 2010 navštívilo Prahu celkem 4 733 701 zahraničních turistů, což bylo oproti roku 2009 o téměř 9 procent více. Podpora cestovního ruchu a zviditelnění Prahy přinesly podle pražského radního Lukáše Kauckého dobré výsledky. Zvýšil se i počet domácích návštěvníků metropole. Praha se také stala vítězem již 13. ročníku ankety TTG Awards v kategorii Nejvstřícnější region či město v České republice.

10.1.2022 — Poprvé měli návštěvníci pražské zoo možnost vidět samce vombata obecného Coopera v sobotu 8. ledna. Jeho slavnostní představení v expozičním celku Darwinova kráteru se uskutečnilo v pravé poledne za účasti náměstka primátora hl. m. Prahy Petra Hlubučka, herce a moderátora Marka Ebena a cukráře Josefa Maršálka. Hosté a návštěvníci měli také možnost ochutnat dva speciálně připravené druhy "vombatích" cukrovinek.

19.2.2018 — The Prague Exhibition Grounds in Holešovice (Výstaviště Holešovice) will come to life on the 24th of February with the traditional fair of St. Matthew. Visitors can look forward to more than 115 different entertainment attractions, an accompanying program and, of course, stalls with typical fair fast food. This year's fair will last until April 15 and is again the first event of its kind in Europe.

16.9.2021 — Společnost EY pod záštitou primátora hlavního města Prahy Zdeňka Hřiba a ve spolupráci s inovační agenturou SIC vyhlašuje již sedmnáctý ročník soutěže o titul EY Podnikatel roku hlavního města Prahy a Středočeského kraje. Nominovat inspirativní podnikatelskou osobnost může kdokoliv, podnikatelé mohou přihlásit i sami sebe. Uzávěrka přihlášek je 21. října 2021.

26.5.2014 — V Letenských sadech v Praze se v neděli 8. června 2014 uskuteční již 15. ročník Běhu pro Paraple s podtitulem Každá noha dobrá. Tradiční běhy veřejnosti, firem a médií na 100 m volným stylem odstartuje zakladatel Centra Paraple Zdeněk Svěrák a další známé osobnosti.

24.5.2011 — Hospodaření hlavního města Prahy jako celku (obce i kraje současně) skončilo k 31. 12. 2010 schodkem v celkové výši 2 032 532,83 tis. Kč. Na tomto výsledku se podílí vlastní hlavní město Praha schodkem ve výši 2 209 302,80 tis. Kč a městské části hlavního města Prahy přebytkem v celkové výši 176 769,97 tis. Kč. Schodek byl financován převážně z úspory hospodaření let minulých. Z celkového počtu 57 městských částí hlavního města Prahy skončilo k 31. 12. 2010 přebytkem hospodaření 31 městských částí hlavního města Prahy a 26 městských částí hlavního města Prahy vykazuje schodek.

27.4.2021 — Pražští radní schválili koncepční dokument v podobě plánu rozvoje sportu a sportovních zařízení v Praze, který stanovuje směr rozvoje sportu a sportovní infrastruktury na území hlavního města v letech 2021-2032. V návaznosti na tento strategický dokument bude následně Radě hl. m. Prahy předložen ke schválení Akční plán rozvoje sportu v hl. m. Praze na období 2021-2024, který bude obsahovat návrh konkrétních opatření v oblasti sportu a tělovýchovy v souladu se schváleným rozpočtem hlavního města pro rok 2021.

8.11.2019 — Old airplanes will be on display for the Open Day in Točná Airport, which the airport organises on the second Saturday of each month. This time, you can admire some new additions on Saturday, the 9th of November. You can also look forward to the take-off and landing of airplanes, weather permitting.

10.12.2019 — The Botanical Garden's greenhouse in the Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague offers you a unique opportunity to discover the history of Christmas in all its glory. You can go back to our ancestors' times to see how they decorated their Christmas trees and how they made nativity scenes. You will also be able to create your own Christmas ornaments and decorations in the workshop.

18.9.2020 — The National Gallery Prague hosts temporary graphic exhibitions in the Fair Trade Palace. One of them is an exhibition of a collection of drawings and prints by Karel Myslbek entitled 'The Silent Drama of Human Poverty', which takes place until the 8th of November. The National Gallery has rich and wide-ranging collection of graphics and drawings from various periods and styles. However, artworks on paper cannot be exhibited for a long time, so drawings and graphics are regularly presented in short-term exhibitions. The current exhibit in the Graphic Cabinet introduces the world of the gloomy but interesting Czech painter, Karel Myslbek.

17.7.2020 — Prague City Gallery comes back to life with exhibitions, various programmes and other events. Yet another interesting exhibition will take place in one of the most beautiful Baroque buildings, Troja Château. The 'Stone Treasures from Prague Gardens' exhibition will be open to visitors until the 1st of November.

21.5.2020 — The space near the Great Strahov Stadium is being put to good use, with a brand-new drive-in cinema. With a capacity of 120 cars, it is the largest drive-in cinema in Prague. Apart from film screenings, various cultural events will also take place here during the summer.

5.11.2019 — This year's 23rd annual Strings of Autumn international music festival will bring several exceptional concerts. Once again, the festival's programme contains a mix of classical music, jazz, world-music, and projects that don't fit into a set genre. The festival in Prague will last until the 13th of November.

25.2.2020 — A brand-new film festival is coming to Prague. The first annual independent Indian film festival, 'INDIE-INDIA', will take place in the Pilotů Cinema on the 28th and 29th of February.

16.2.2020 — The City of Prague Museum has prepared a traditional carnival at Ctěnice Chateau on the 16th of February. As usual, besides feasting, you can enjoy a varied programme that will attract and delight all age groups.

31.10.2019 — Prague's integrated public transport system will soon undergo several changes. The development of the D metro line and new tram lines, large-capacity, convenient and comfortable transport, remains a priority. As regards bus lines, the city of Prague is preparing to adjust timetables in response to occupancy issues, especially in the quiet months of January and February, in order to make bus transport more effective.

19.10.2020 — A barrier-free entrance to Prague Botanical Garden was opened in the southern part of St. Claire's Vineyard at the end of September. The garden had been planning to build a new entrance for several years, and their waiting has finally paid off. From now on, visitors can comfortably enter St. Claire's Vineyard directly from Trojská Street, at the intersection between the vineyard walls and Troja Château, where the Kovárna bus stop is conveniently situated.

28.4.2020 — The 29th of April has been the International Dance Day since 1982. The traditional meeting of dancers and dance fans usually takes place on Střelecký Island, where the event has a wide fan base. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year's annual competition will be broadcast online from several locations in Prague. Nevertheless, the event will still connect the Czech dance scene with the public.

28.8.2020 — Karlínské Square will be full of children on the 30th of August for the family festival that will take place there, offering children's attractions, good food and cultural activities. As part of the Karlín Family Festival, farmers will offer their products in stalls, children can take part in workshops and the whole family can enjoy musical performances. The Karlín Family Festival is a simple and ideal way to conclude summer in Prague.

24.2.2019 — The Map of Accessibility has been making life easier not only for people with reduced mobility but also for seniors and parents with prams since 2016. Currently, detailed and regularly updated information on barrier-free accessibility for more than 1 100 buildings and public spaces in the City of Prague can be found on the map.

15.6.2007 — První dáma ČR Livia Klausová, primátor hlavního města Prahy Pavel Bém, velmistr Řádu Křižovníků s červenou hvězdou Jiří Kopejsko a převozník pražský Zdeněk Bergman dnes odpoledne slavnostně otevřeli Muzeum Karlova mostu. Muzeum Karlova mostu představuje unikátní možnost seznámit se blíže s historií ojedinělého místa a památky, jejíž 650. výročí založení si zanedlouho připomeneme. Expozice spojující prezentaci uměleckých památek i předmětů dobové každodennosti má šanci zaujmout v kulturní nabídce Prahy jedinečné místo.

13.3.2013 — Organizátoři výstavy unikátní sbírky Muchových plakátů, kterou v průběhu třiceti let sestavil tenista Ivan Lendl, vyšli vstříc mimořádnému zájmu veřejnosti a prodlužují termín expozice až do 10. září letošního roku.

20.5.2023 — Tradiční farmářské trhy, festival burgerů a piva, oslava pravého třtinového rumu, představení gastronomických specialit z Izraele... To vše a mnohem více je možné v metropoli o víkendu 20. a 21. května navštívit a užít si při tom i zábavu a krásné jarní počasí.

24.11.2020 — Rozhovory, debaty s odborníky i poradnu pro diváky nabídnou tři dny živého vysílání 25. ročníku veletrhu vzdělávání Schola Pragensis. Jubilejní přehlídka pražských středních a vyšších odborných škol začne již tento čtvrtek 26. listopadu v 10:00 hodin a poprvé v historii se uskuteční pouze na internetu. Žáci, rodiče a učitelé ji najdou na nové webové adrese www.scholapragensis.online. Vysílání potrvá až do soboty 28. listopadu a přinese bohatý program. Tím ale veletrh neskončí. Aktivní bude až do konce února příštího roku.

5.8.2021 — Hlavními tématy fóra byly ženy v politice, genderový mainstreaming, rovnost žen a mužů v oblasti výzkumu a inovací a také rovnoprávnost manželských práv v obou zemích. Fórum zahájili primátor hl. m. Prahy pan Zdeněk Hřib a paní Lin Ching-yi, velvyslankyně pro zapojení žen Čínské republiky (Tchaj-wan).

20.9.2022 — Největší summit kulturních a kreativních odvětví v Evropě, European Creative Industries Summit 2022, se koná pod záštitou hlavního města 22. a 23. září 2022 v pražském kulturním prostoru La Fabrika. Akce mimo jiné představí, jak může Česko využít příležitost a získat evropské prostředky na ekonomickou transformaci, neboť Evropská unie nově vyčlenila celkem 3,6 miliard korun právě na podporu kulturních a kreativních odvětví.
