1.2.2018 — The National Gallery in Prague celebrates 222st anniversary of its establishment on February 3-4. On these days, admission to all permanent exhibitions of the National Gallery in Prague is free.

20.10.2019 — Prague plans to expand the collection of plant-based bio-waste. Citizens who recycle bio-waste will save money. Bio-waste of plant origin currently accounts for up to 40% of mixed municipal waste in the Czech metropolis.

13.10.2017 — The date 28 October represents an important day in the history of the Czech Republic. Czechoslovak independence was proclaimed on 28 October 1918.

8.1.2018 — This year, we commemorate the 100th anniversary from the declaration of the Czechoslovakia. It will also be remembered by five exhibitions under the common title: Founded in 1918, prepared by the Prague Castle Administration.

8.5.2019 — On Saturday, the 11th of May, Prague Castle will officially open the summer tourist season. The seat of the Czech heads of state is on this day open to visitors completely for free. Apart from the opening of the summer season, the 100th anniversary of the Office of the President of the Republic will also be celebrated.

Voličům v nařízené karanténě nebo izolaci je podle v srpnu schváleného zákona umožněno hlasovat u drive-in volebního stanoviště nebo doma do zvláštní přenosné volební schránky. 14.4.2019 — The Harmonia Praga Chamber Orchestra has organised the sixth annual series of concerts, called Style Evenings, in the 'Novoměstská radnice' (New Town Hall).

10.1.2019 — The annual series of concerts of exceptional musicians from four continents will take place once again in Prague club Jazz Dock. Renowned American guitarist Julian Lage, trumpet virtuoso Ambrose Akinmusire, walking in the footsteps of Miles Davis, and Israeli double bass player Adam Ben Ezra will all partake.

21.11.2018 — Prague City Assembly has 65 members that are elected in municipal elections by Prague citizens for a four-year period. The following parties, movement, and coalition are represented for the election period 2018 - 2022: Česká pirátská strana, PRAHA SOBĚ, koalice "TOP 09, STAN a KDU-ČSL", ODS, ANO 2011. Prague City Assembly holds a session once a month (or as needed) and its meetings are open to the public. Meetings of the Assembly are convened in writing and made available to the public. Prague City Hall Assembly decides on significant matters that concern Prague. It puts forward bills in the Chamber of Deputies and approves the Prague City budget, both of which have been previously discussed with individual city districts. Additionally, the Assembly approves the City and territorial districts development programs, issues generally binding regulations, grants honorary citizenships, and awards of the City of Prague. 20.3.2020 — Prague City Hall is limiting its services and is operating exclusively at the counters. New City Hall is closed, and these changes will also affect the City Council's activities.

28.6.2020 — Prague City Technology has been adding QR codes to the metal identification tags on public lighting, which will make it easier to report a lighting issue or an illegal advertisement. The codes will help emergency workers, as well as residents and tourists, navigate Prague.

10.5.2020 — The jubilee 15th American Spring International Music Festival ('Americké jaro') will take place with an online programme. If you can't come to the festival, the festival will come to you! Enjoy a variety of concerts in your pyjamas and with a glass of wine in the comfort of your home on the 11th, 14th and 19th of May. The festival will start online and continue live in the autumn.

17.7.2020 — 'Náplavky', meaning riverbanks, have become popular venues for various events and markets in Prague. Now, travelling between Smíchovská náplavka by Hořejší Embankment and Náplavka by Rašínovo Embankment will be quicker and easier thanks to a new regular ferry connecting them.

14.9.2007 — At last the Charles Bridge renovation finally started, it has been planned since 1991. Its completion date is 11th June 2010 and the repairs should prevent water leakage and improve the infrastructure of the bridge and its access roads. Repair works cost more than 222 million crowns and doesn't concern the stone bridge's antique patina as this will be repaired in 10 years time.

11.3.2019 — From the 15th to the 21st of March 2019, yoga enthusiasts from all over the world will gather in Prague to take part in the 9th Prague Spirit Festival. 'Novoměstská radnice' (The New Town Hall) hosts the main events. Yoga is about life, reality, pleasures and doubts. The motto of this year's annual festival, the first of its kind in the Czech Republic, is "You are not alone".

30.8.2017 — The third of the series of this year's world races RUNCZECH held in Prague is titled Birell Prague Grand Prix 2017 and will start on the Saturday evening of September 9th, in the city center.

6.3.2020 — Soups from all over the world can be tasted during this year's annual popular Polívkování festival, which will take place on the 7th of March on the Vltava riverbank ('Náplavka' in Czech) in Smíchov, Prague. Come and enjoy all-time favourites and try out lesser-known soup recipes from all over the world.

14.4.2019 — Winter has passed, spring is in the air, and the streets are waking up. On Sunday, the 14th of April 2019, the next season of Street Food Festival begins at the Cross Club in Holešovice.

25.11.2019 — Akcent International Theatre Festival, organised by Archa Theatre, is on until the 2nd of December. Theatre installations, interactive scenic events and productions of documentary theatre are all on the festival's programme. Archa Theatre has been organising the international documentary theatre festival Akcent since 2010. Their aim is to create a platform for art that crosses the boundaries between art, social issues and politics.

9.10.2020 — A new website was launched on the 5th of October which gives information on the next available testing dates for COVID-19 in Prague and is also connected to the booking systems for individual testing clinics. The website is designed for everyone who wants to get tested, both for those with a medical certificate and for people who want to check the average waiting times at selected testing sites.

11.3.2020 — Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by a novel coronavirus, which means this virus has not been found before. However, we know that the virus transmits mainly via (a) direct contact with droplets from an infected person; and (b) indirect contact by touching contaminated surfaces where the virus can survive for a short time.

11.6.2010 — Rada hl. m. Prahy schválila text Memoranda o spolupráci mezi hl. m. Prahou a Českými drahami. Předpokládá se, že tak dojde k propojení pražské opencard a In-karty ČD. Díky tomu bude možné využívat některé služby obou karet pouze na jedné z nich. Dokument za hlavní město podepíše v nejbližší době primátor Prahy Pavel Bém.

16.8.2020 — The public voting for the Adapterra Awards competition has started. The competition aims to find the best ideas on how to prepare Czech cities, towns and landscapes for the effects of climate change, such as drought, rising temperatures and torrential rain. 21 projects have reached the final stage of the competition, five of which are from Prague. The public have until the end of September to choose the best projects in the Czech Republic tackling current challenges regarding climate change, such as creating green buildings and public spaces, cooling urban streets and returning water to the landscape.

31.10.2019 — Judith Hill is an American singer who is gaining more and more popularity. She will visit Prague on the 1st of November as part of her European tour. She will present her latest album as one of the stars of JAZZ ON5 festival in Jazz Dock.

8.4.2020 — On the 12th of March 2020, the Czech government declared a state of emergency due to the coronavirus pandemic. The emergency was extended until 30 April.

28.10.2020 — Prague Planetarium and the Štefánik Observatory commence another two-year course in astronomy. Those who complete the course successfully will have an opportunity to work in the Astronomy Club of the Štefánik Observatory. The two-year astronomical course has been held for over 50 years and offers the participants basic knowledge of modern astronomy along with knowledge of the night sky and the basics of working with astronomical instruments.

15.4.2020 — The Czech Technical University in Prague and the Czech Academy of Sciences have developed and tested a new protective respirator half mask in Prague. It fits better than FFP2 respirators, which are imported from Asia and are less effective in Europe due to their different shape.

26.9.2019 — RefuFest is a festival that creates space for people from all over the world to meet and express solidarity with refugees. Discover other cultures thanks to music, dance, theatre and other forms of cultural expression. The festival will take place in Invalidovna in Karlín in Prague on the 27th and 28th of September, while Thursday the 27th of September is reserved for schools.

19.9.2019 — An exhibition dedicated to the 600th anniversary of the birth of the Czech king Wenceslas IV (Václav IV.) is on in the Imperial Stables of Prague Castle until the 3rd of November. It will display the era of his rule, as well as Gothic art and architecture from around 1400 AD.
