29.6.2020 — 'Thank you Czech technicians' is an exhibition in the National Technical Museum, which expresses their gratitude to Czechs technicians for their help during the coronavirus pandemic. The exhibition will be open in the museum building in Letná until the 30th of September.
Independent American artist Arthur Jafa in Galerie Rudolfinum
10.2.2019 — The exhibition of the famous American filmmaker, cinematographer and artist Arthur Jafa can now be seen at the Galerie Rudolfinum. It is his first exhibition in the Czech Republic. Arthur Jafa creates images of African-American identity and culture through a broad spectrum of contemporary footage and found images. The exhibition's title, 'A Series of Utterly Improbable, Yet Extraordinary Renditions', refers to the feeling of emptiness that characterizes black life, according to Jafa.

Third generation of common European vipers in Prague Zoo
31.8.2020 — Vipera berus, the common European adder or common European viper, is the only venomous snake that can be found in the Czech Republic. The third generation was bred in Prague Zoo in August and visitors can admire the baby snakes in the part of the zoo called 'Zakázanka'.

This time, we will look at Matyáš Bernard Braun's sculptures in Prague. The Austrian sculptor and woodcarver is one of the most important sculptors of the High Baroque period in the Czech Republic. Although he was not a Czech native, he created some of his most precious works in Bohemia.

A new vineyard on the slopes of Vítkov in Prague
18.12.2019 — There is much more to Prague than well-known tourist attractions like Hradčany and Wenceslas Square. For example, the Czech capital currently has a total number of fourteen vineyards within its borders. The most famous are St. Clare's Vineyard and Salabka Vineyard in Troja, Máchalka Vineyard in Vysočany, and Grébovka in Prague 2. The new vineyard in the park in Vítkov is a recent addition.

Dvořákova Praha International Music Festival promises two weeks of beautiful music
8.9.2019 — The twelfth year of one of the biggest festivals of classical music in the Czech Republic will welcome the famous conductors Zubin Mehta and Neeme Järvi. Top soloists, internationally recognised orchestras and chamber ensembles will also meet on stage. Dvořákova Praha International Music Festival takes place from the 8th to the 23rd of September.

13.2.2019 — The City of Prague Museum, in cooperation with the Free State of Saxony's liaison office in Prague, organised an exhibition of children's drawings with fairy tale themes in the Ctěnice Chateau complex. The exhibition will be open until the 17th March.
Physical aspects of radio broadcasting in the art of Roman Štětina
15.1.2019 — Until the 24th of February 2019, you can visit an unusual exhibition of audiovisual works by the gifted young artist Roman Štětina in Colloredo-Mansfeld Palace, one of the exceptional Baroque mansions in the Old Town. Roman Štětina has been focused on radio since the beginning of his career. In this exhibition, created in cooperation with fashion designer Mia Jadrná, he highlights the gradual disappearance of audio technology and the hidden art of radio professionals. His main interest lies in what precedes encounters with broadcasted sound - what exists in the "foreword."
Celebrations for giraffes and elephants in Prague Zoo
20.6.2020 — The weekend of the 21st and the 22nd of June will be dedicated to large African mammals in Prague Zoo. World Giraffe Day celebrations and a baby elephant christening will take place here. World Giraffe Day falls on the 21st of June, the longest day of the year, but it will be celebrated in Prague Zoo on Saturday, the 20th of June, this year. The Giraffe Conservation Foundation, who announced this day, protects and monitors these incredible mammals in the wild. Zoos celebrate giraffes on this day all around the world.
Czech Police Museum to host Festival of Swords
4.9.2020 — 'Katana Masuri 2020', the Festival of Swords or 'Slavnost mečů' in Czech, takes place in the Czech Police Museum once every three years. This year's fifth festival will take place on the 6th of September and will once again introduce not only the Japanese sword, but also Japanese culture to the public. The event covers a wide range of topics, from Europe to Asia, from the historical Middle Ages to fencing today.
The eighth annual festival of Iranian films in Prague with English subtitles
16.1.2019 — From the 15th to the 20th of January, Prague cinemas present a festival, which introduces some of the best current Iranian films. The festival, simply called 'Írán:ci' (Iranians), features films projected with English subtitles. It opens on the 15th of January at 8pm in the Lucerna cinema, with a dark comedy 'Pig', one of the most successful Iranian movies of the year. The director Mani Haghighi, whose movies 'About Elly' and 'Dragon Arrives!' were successful in previous years of the festival, will introduce the film.
What is The City of Prague Museum offering in 2019?
1.2.2019 — Over the course of the year, The City of Prague Museum is preparing a total of six exhibitions. These exhibitions will show Prague past, with interesting historical crafts, as well as present-day Prague, with photographs by a well-known photographer. The museum has permanent displays, such as the archaeological collection in the main building, which is the museum's biggest collection and mostly comes from the museum's archaeological research. Collections of applied art are also valuable, including a high-quality collection of graphics. The most valuable part of this collection is the vedute, which are views of Prague, including its squares, individual street, important buildings, emerging suburbs and natural surroundings outside the city's baroque fortifications. Visitors can also admire these views in Langweil's model of Prague, which contains more than 2,000 buildings on a 1:480 scale, with all the fine details of facades, courtyards, gardens and farm outhouses belonging to buildings. In the case of many demolished historical buildings, Langweil's model of Prague is the only physical record of their appearance.
Italian-style New Year's Eve with Collegium 1704
28.12.2019 — The Collegium 1704 Orchestra, which is dedicated to the interpretation of Baroque music, will perform music by the Italian Baroque masters with the vocal ensemble Collegium Vocale 1704 at their New Year's Eve concert in Rudolfinum in Prague.
Chilean jazz musician’s concert in Prague
27.10.2019 — On the 29th of October, Chilean saxophonist Melissa Aldana will perform in Novodvorská Cultural Centre. Aldana can be characterised as a musician with a great temperament, virtuosity and love of jazz roots. The concert is part of the concert series Jazz Meets World.
New baby animals in Prague Zoo
30.4.2020 — One hundred and thirty animals from over forty species have been born in Prague Zoo since it closed on the 13th of March 2020. With other animals still giving birth, including the rare Malayan tapir, zookeepers are wondering when the public will get to see them.
Lukáš Rittstein’s works at the Sculpture Line festival
23.8.2020 — The Sculpture Line is a festival that transforms squares, streets, parks and other public spaces into open-air galleries. The festival is taking place in Prague and other Czech cities and towns for the sixth time. Sculpture Line is the largest event in the Czech Republic that supports the connection between sculpture and public space and, in doing so, expands the cultural and artistic potential of public spaces, bringing emotion into public spaces and exploring new possibilities. The main idea of the long-term art project is to introduce contemporary art to both residents and tourists, and to enhance the social function of public spaces.
Rare Chacoan peccary offspring in Prague Zoo mean hope for world breeding
16.6.2019 — At the beginning of May, two rare Chacoan peccary piglets (called Wagner's peccary in Czech from their scientific name Catagonus wagner) were born in Prague Zoo. Now visitors can see them with their parents in outside enclosure at the top of the zoo. This is a great zoological event: the Chacoan peccary has existed since prehistoric times and was only known from archaeological evidence until the 1970s.

Darwin Crater opens to the public
8.6.2020 — Darwin Crater, the long-awaited habitat for Tasmanian and Australian fauna, including Tasmanian devils, has finally opened in Prague Zoo. The new exhibition is named after the area in Tasmania which was created by a fallen meteorite. The circular shape of Darwin Crater in Prague Zoo, which is the centre of the habitat, depicts the crater in Western Tasmania.

16.2.2020 — Come to appreciate and support the best pole dance contestants who have made their way through the individual rounds of Battle League 2019 to the elite final of the competition. Pole Battle Championship will take place on the 22nd of February in the sports hall TJ Sokol Královské Vinohrady.

15.10.2019 — From the 16th to the 18th of October, Zelenka Festival Prague - Dresden will feature the work of Baroque genius Jan Dismas Zelenka. The festival venues are the Church of the Virgin Mary under the Chain ('kostel Panny Marie pod řetězem') in the Lesser Town ('Malá Strana') and the Knight Hall of the Grand Priory Palace ('Rytířský sál Velkopřevorského paláce').

Prague launches a campaign informing tourists of the rules in the city at night
30.7.2019 — From the end of September, a campaign is taking place in the streets of Prague that will focus on the rules and regulations tourists need to follow in the Czech capital. The campaign is organised by Prague City Tourism in cooperation with the Night Mayor Jan Štern. It will focus on the behaviour of tourists in the most problematic parts of the town. Next year, it will be followed up by a long-term campaign that will specifically target tourists, thanks to the results of the STEM / MARK agency's survey on the behaviour of tourists in Prague at night.
New parterre in front of the Šlechta Restaurant in Stromovka
11.7.2020 — A new parterre, an ornamental garden, has been created in front of the Šlechta Restaurant following the overall reconstruction of an area in Stromovka where a pond used to be. Stromovka, a former medieval game reserve, is the largest green space in Prague, with an area of 95 hectares.

Dance festival KoresponDance 2019 starts in Prague
23.6.2019 — Most of the international contemporary dance festival KoresponDance will take place at the Castle in Žďár nad Sázavou, but the opening event will be in Prague. On the 25th of June, dancers will entertain the audience with three performances at the historical building of Invalidovna in Prague. One of the highlights of the evening will be a solo performance by James Batchelor, one of Australia's most amazing dance artists.
