New Russian art exhibition in DOX

23.10.2019 — A new exhibition, 'Russia. Timeless', is running in DOX Centre for Contemporary Art in Holešovice in Prague until the 2nd of December. The exhibition introduces strong artistic opinions from contemporary Russia. "The exhibition shows the theme of timelessness over the past sixty years by artists of different generations and aesthetic beliefs. We want them to stand side by side and together, without categorising them as more or less important than each other. Each visitor can decide that for themselves and according to their own opinion," Tomáš Glanc, one of the exhibition's curators, said.

Manet’s graphics in the National Gallery Prague

28.6.2020 — 'Manet in Black-and-White' is an exhibition of graphic works by the French painter Édouard Manet held in the National Gallery Prague. The exhibition will be open in the Graphic Cabinet on the 4th floor of the Trade Fair Palace until the 9th of August. The National Gallery Prague has been located in the Trade Fair Palace in Prague's Holešovice district since 1976. Apart from the temporary exhibition of Manet's lesser-known works, you can also visit the permanent exhibition of 20thand 21st century art located there.

Top speedway racers will compete at Markéta Speedway Stadium

15.6.2019 — On Saturday, the 15th of June 2019, the next round of the prestigious FIM Speedway Grand Prix, the World Championship of Individuals, will take place at Markéta Speedway Stadium. The 23rd annual Speedway World Championship in the Czech Republic will be the third round in the Speedway Grand Prix. The first race took place in May in Warsaw, and the next round will be in Krško, Slovenia.

Prague Zoo exhibition captures the beauty of Przewalski’s horses

31.10.2020 — Do not despair if you missed the exhibition 'The Beauty of Wild Horses' in Prague Zoo before its closure. The garden has prepared an online version of the exhibition, which is now available on their website. Prague Zoo has played an important role in saving Przewalski's horse from extinction since 1921, and more recently, in returning these wild horses to their natural habitat, the steppes of central Asia. The zoo also keeps a breed registry for Przewalski's horse species.

Prestigious canoe slalom races culminate in Troja, Prague

5.9.2019 — From the 6th to the 8th of September, Prague will host the ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup finals. The series of top-class canoe slalom races will culminate at the artificial canoe slalom course in Troja, along with the Extreme Canoe Slalom CSLX World Championships 2019.

Boats that Sank on the Vltava without Loss of Life

17.4.2008 — River boats did not carry many passengers during the winter months. For the first time in 42 years boat services operated throughout the winter of 1991. The company that had been the sole provider of riverboat services on the Vltava, Dopravní Podnik Praha (Prague Public Transport Authority) once again under its original name Pražská Paroplavební Společnost (Prague Steamboat Company), now had to cope with competitors.

4.1.2019 — On Sunday, the 6th of January 2019, the Epiphany, you will have the opportunity to witness a special procession of the Three Wise Men (the Three Kings) on camels in the streets of the Czech Capital. The parade will proceed from Malostranské náměstí via Karlův most (Charles Bridge) to the Staroměstské náměstí (Old Town Square), where the Jakub Jan Ryba's 'Czech Christmas Mass' (Česká mše vánoční) will be played and sung, concluding the procession and the Christmas season.

Traffic restrictions on Vinohradská Avenue

8.3.2019 — On Saturday, the 9th of March 2019, the reconstruction of the tram line on Vinohradská Avenue will begin on the stretch from Škrétova Street to Sudoměřská Street. The expected completion date is the 12th of July 2019. Trams will not operate in the I. P. Pavlova - Muzeum - Flora section, and buses will provide alternative routes. Road traffic will only be maintained in the direction from the city centre from Legerova Street to Jiřího z Poděbrad Square. In the next part of Vinohradská Avenue, as well as in the direction to the city centre, the following diversions and alternative routes are proposed:

Prague Planetarium is one of the largest planetariums in the world, and the only one of its kind in the Czech Republic. The project Ledová Praha invites children to engage with heritage centres in Prague

24.1.2019 — On Friday, the 1st of February 2019, schoolchildren in the Czech Republic will enjoy a school break. As in previous years, children will participate in project Ledová Praha by visiting monuments, museums and other centres of heritage in Prague. Over the long weekend from the 1st to the 3rd of February, families and groups of children will collect their Ledová karta, a free card that grants free or reduced admission to many museums and galleries in Prague, (such as the National Museum, the Jewish Museum in Prague and the Czech Police Museum) and other places of interest (for example, Prague Castle, Strahov Library and Loreta Praha). This year, about thirty historical and cultural centres of heritage are taking part.

15.7.2019 — The 20th Anniversary of the Summer Festivities of Early Music has started! The first of seven exclusive evenings of music took place on the 11th of July and the international music festival will run until the 6th of August. The well-known festival has been connecting old music with architecture for 20 years, as the concerts take place at specially selected historical venues in the Czech capital city, such as the Convent of Saint Agnes, Břevnov Monastery, Troja Château, and Rudolfinum.
