19.2.2018 — The Prague Exhibition Grounds in Holešovice (Výstaviště Holešovice) will come to life on the 24th of February with the traditional fair of St. Matthew. Visitors can look forward to more than 115 different entertainment attractions, an accompanying program and, of course, stalls with typical fair fast food. This year's fair will last until April 15 and is again the first event of its kind in Europe.

Prague Public Transport Museum is open in the winter

17.2.2019 — Since the Prague Public Transport Museum is very popular, The Prague Public Transit Co. Inc. has decided to open it to the public even in the winter months. The museum will be open every weekend until the 31st of March 2019 from 9am to 5pm. Visitors will find more than forty historic vehicles and many other exhibits here, including models, photographs, historical documents, tickets and transport plans.

National Gallery exhibits Myslbek’s works depicting human poverty

18.9.2020 — The National Gallery Prague hosts temporary graphic exhibitions in the Fair Trade Palace. One of them is an exhibition of a collection of drawings and prints by Karel Myslbek entitled 'The Silent Drama of Human Poverty', which takes place until the 8th of November. The National Gallery has rich and wide-ranging collection of graphics and drawings from various periods and styles. However, artworks on paper cannot be exhibited for a long time, so drawings and graphics are regularly presented in short-term exhibitions. The current exhibit in the Graphic Cabinet introduces the world of the gloomy but interesting Czech painter, Karel Myslbek.

Polish film festival in Bio Oko cinema in Prague

Monitoring of Lyme borreliosis and meningoencephalitis agents in ticks

21.6.2007 — In 2006 the monitoring of up-to-date percentage of ticks infected with the aetiological agents of Lyme borreliosis and meningoencephalitis in the selected areas on the territory of Prague continued. The monitoring is purposefully aimed at the monitoring of activity of natural infection focuses under the Capital City conditions. The text is based on the chapter Monitoring of Lyme borreliosis and meningoencephalitis agents in ticks published in yearbook Prague Environment 2006.

The newly reconstructed Květnice Garden is ready to welcome visitors to Petřín

30.8.2019 — The Environmental Protection Department of Prague City Hall was in charge of repairing a neglected part of Květnice Garden, costing 2.8 million CZK. The garden is part of Petřín Park (Petřínské sady) and is located above Nebozízek in the proximity of the Rose Orchard (Růžový sad).

Traffic measures on the Vršovická and Otakarova roads

21.2.2020 — From the 22nd of February 2020, transport measures will be introduced due to ongoing reconstruction works on railway bridges across Vršovická and Otakarova streets for the optimization of Prague Hostivař - Prague Main Railway Station. The transport measures will take place in two stages.

20.4.2020 — Assistance Centres ('Asistenční centrum pomoci') will be established in the Municipal Library of Prague in case of emergencies with a large number of casualties and other major crisis situations. It will primarily serve to provide information and assistance to people affected by an emergency, as well as their loved ones.

Unique numbering system on Prague’s lampposts assists with rescues

21.1.2019 — There are more than 130,000 lampposts in Prague and each pole is marked with a unique number code. It accurately identifies a particular pole and provides information about its location. "We have a database of these numbers that is accessible to the Integrated Rescue system. Emergency line operators are able to quickly locate the caller when they give them the number of the nearest public lamppost. In practice, it helps a lot," Jan Chabr says. Chabr is Prague's City Hall Councillor and is in charge of Prague's municipal assets.

1.4.2019 — In April, 'Mladí Ladí Jazz', the annual International Youth Jazz Festival in Prague, will bring seven evenings of concerts where world renowned stars will be performing, workshops and, of course, the traditional youth competition 'Jazzfruit'. The festival is looking for talents in contemporary jazz and the experimental scene from the Czech Republic and abroad, and introduce them to the public. Its main goal is to bring the attention of a young audience back to jazz music and restore traditions of this music in the Czech Republic.

Swiss DJ returns to Roxy Dance Club

17.8.2020 — On the night of the 21st of August, Nora En Pure, a talented DJ, will show her mixing skills at the Roxy Music Club. The artist regularly returns to the Czech capital and Prague audiences love her. Nora En Pure was born as Daniela Di Lillo in Johannesburg in 1990, to South African-Swiss parents. Czech Police Museum collecting facemasks for exhibition

31.5.2020 — Wearing a facemask, respirator or bandana has become a new standard in the Czech Republic due to the coronavirus pandemic. It is mandatory to cover your nose and mouth from the 19th of March, with some exceptions. The Czech Police Museum is creating an original collection of masks to exhibit. Due to a lack of masks and because they are mandatory, some people started to make them at home.

23.5.2020 — As Prague would like to have as much public art as some other major cities, streets and other public spaces will be soon filled with work by various artists. The 'Art for the City' programme ('Umění pro město') will support the emergence of contemporary art in public spaces in the Czech capital.

30.6.2020 — Fans of new circus will be pleased to hear that Letní Letná, the popular new circus festival, will take place this year after all, and only part of the programme will be postponed until next year. The 17th annual Letní Letná festival will take place from the 18th to the 25th of August in Letenské sady in Prague. Unfortunately, the programme will not be the same, but it is still well worth a visit!

Transport restrictions in Českobrodská Street

26.2.2019 — The current road works on a 300-metre-long stretch on Českobrodská Street will continue until the end of June and the necessary traffic restrictions are in place. The area under reconstruction runs through Běchovice. The traffic restrictions affect the stretch on Českobrodská Street from Do Říčan Street to Dolnopočernická Street. The work will be done in two stages - the first on the northern half of the road, and the second on the southern half. Access will only be granted to the emergency services, Prague City buses, residents, and suppliers. Other vehicles must have permission to access the area.

Visit the popular Náplavka Farmers’ Market on the Vltava riverbank

24.2.2020 — 'Náplavka', meaning riverbank, refers to the embankment of the Vltava River between Palacký Bridge and Railway Bridge in Prague 2, a place where farmers' markets have regularly been held for 11 years. Even though it is not the largest in the Czech capital city, the market is unsurpassed with its friendly, relaxed atmosphere, which is one of the reasons that it is one of the most popular markets in the city. The 2020 season started in February, and the market is held every Saturday.

The National Museum restores blue whale skeleton

25.4.2020 — The National Museum in Prague is working on a restoration of its largest collection item, the blue whale skeleton. Visitors will soon be able to see it online.

Prague celebrates the return of culture

18.8.2020 — "In April, together with GoOut, we sold tickets to non-existent shows in order to help to keep our culture alive. And because the time when almost NOTHING cultural happened is, hopefully, behind us, now Prague can experience SOMETHING in the last weekend of September. Traffic restrictions due to construction work for the bridge in Bubenská street.

4.2.2019 — At the beginning of February, construction work will commence on the bridge in Bubenská street, near the Vltavská metro station. The investor, Prague Technical Road Administration (Technická správa komunikací hl. m. Prahy, a.s.), expects the work to take approximately one month. Some traffic restrictions will be in place.

Biggest international floorball tournament comes to Prague

5.8.2019 — The international floorball tournament Czech Open 2019 will take place in thirteen halls across Prague from the 8th to the 11th of August. The tournament is not only for elite world teams, but also for amateur and junior teams. The 28th international floorball tournament is considered one of the largest and most prestigious in the world. The biggest stars regularly come to Prague for this event.

Barrel-organists meet at the Czech Museum of Music

10.8.2020 — The 7th annual barrel-organ music festival, 'Flašinet žije', will take place in the historic heart of Prague on the 11th of August. Street artists from the Czech Republic and Slovakia will bring music and energy to three venues in the city centre. The barrel-organ music festival will commence at 10am with a concert in the church of St. Nicholas in the Old Town square. The beautiful baroque church will witness a barrel-organ performance of popular classical music pieces.
