24th Strings of Autumn Festival offers alternative concerts

Israeli bassist Avishai Cohen will launch the Strings of Autumn festival on the Lucerna Rooftop on the 11th of September, with up to 250 spectators. The capacity is limited to 250 spectators. Music lovers will enjoy Cohen's concert in an unusually intimate atmosphere, very different to the great halls where he usually plays. The charming environment on the Lucerna Palace Rooftop between the Prague towers offers a unique view of Prague's landmarks and makes the concert even more special.

On the 19th of September, the British violinist Daniel Hope will also give a concert in an unusual setting, on a floating stage on the Vltava River.

In November, Prague concert halls will hold concerts by the Brandt Brauer Frick Ensemble, the pioneers of acoustic techno from Berlin, the star countertenor Andreas Scholl, and Vinicius Cantuaria’s performance of Antonio Carlos Jobim’s Brazilian bossa nova. Jiří Suchý’s ‘Recital’ will conclude the event.

About the festival

Founded in 1996, Strings of Autumn has earned a reputation of one of the most important music events in the Czech Republic, with a programme ranging from early and contemporary classical music to jazz, hip-hop and electronica, and so illuminating the relationships between genres. The festival tracks impulses across musical periods and genres, and conveys them to festival goers, offering truly unique experiences at a variety of intimate venues in Prague. Throughout its 23 years of existence, the festival has introduced many iconic musicians, as well as a new generation of artists, often for their first time in the Czech music scene.
